Band (but not actually) of the week: SOMOH 🌱

Hello! So, perhaps I shouldn't have titled my blog series 'Band of the week' because I have recently gotten into this incredible british solo artist that goes by the name SOMOH. 

SOMOH, also known as Sophia Mohan, is a 22 year old singer from London, born to an Italian mother and English father. She said in an interview with Dazed that her first musical memory is when her mother made her take classical singing lessons as a child so that she could sing in italian to her italian relatives, and help share her love for music in a way that they would understand. She states that those weekly lessons were what initially sparked her passionate love for music. 

This insanely talented bedroom pop artist, inspired by beabadoobee and alex g, only has 40 thousand monthly listeners! Pure lunacy, I know. Her most popular songs currently are Favourite, Anything (which is the song that introduced me to her), and I've Been Saying This.

She has been teasing a new song recently, but has yet to reveal the title and release date. From yhe short clips of it that I've heard though, it sounds like an absolute banger.

She currently only has two EPs: A Plan to Get Home (2023), and Problem Child (2024), comprising of 5 songs each, but we can expect to see more music soon!
