Band of the week: saturn 17 ๐Ÿช

⋆˚࿔ saturn 17: indie band that deserves WAY more attention

Saturn 17 is a small indie band with just over 50.000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

The band began back in 2019 on the DePaul University campus in Chicago, when Nika Fazeli (on the left) was on the lookout for a singer for her band, and less than a week after the beginning of term, she ran into acting major Halsey Bousquet (on the right).

The two quickly became friends, bonding over their love for music and astrology, however it wasn't until the following January when they started considering a serious music career. Nika taught Halsey to play a taylor swift song, and was highly impressed by her voice. It was then when she aked Halsey if she wanted to be the second half of her band, and she accepted! Thus was the creation of saturn 17.

Their most popular single, 'could this be love?', released in 2019, has nearly 10 million streams, and it was that song that made the duo realise that they really had something special, and that people enjoyed their music. Following this, they released their first and currently only EP, 'could this be love?', made up of 5 great indie tracks (including could this be love?, right now, ur not into me, alright and closure).

Following that, they released their singles not my fault (2022), tunnels (2022), magazine (2023), BEWARE OF DOG (2023) and Chore (2024). The two say it's their dream to go on tour, either as a supporting act or a headliner, or to play at a festival, such as Coachella. They also say they'd love to collaborate with another artist, specifically boygenius or Lana del Rey, and possibly release merch.

That's all I have to say about this small band and their highly enjoyable, underrated music. Hopefully they'll release more music soon!
